Entry requirements

Entry requirements for Taylors College Sydney

Taylors College has one over-riding Admissions Policy – we will only accept your application if your results indicate that you are able to pass the program.

Entry to the University of Sydney Foundation Program and High Achievers Preparation Program is for international students only. International students who are granted Australian permanent residency after accepting a place in the course may complete the USFP, but cannot be guaranteed entry to the University of Sydney under the conditions set down for international students.

COVID-19 English language requirements

To ensure your journey isn’t delayed, we are now accepting a wider range of English language tests along with our existing tests for entry to our courses.

New English tests accepted include:

  • IELTS Indicator
  • TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition
  • Duolingo English test
  • English tests up to three years old (from the commencement date of study)

University of Sydney Foundation Program

As a guide, applicants for the Intensive Foundation Program must have achieved superior grades in English and relevant academic subjects. Students applying for the Standard Foundation Program must have achieved at least average grades in English and relevant subjects. The Extended Foundation Program is designed for students who do not qualify for the Standard program, or who want to develop a more solid foundation in key subjects such as Mathematics or the Sciences. Forecast results are accepted where appropriate.

We are doing everything we can to make sure that your education isn’t impacted due to COVID-19. That’s why we will allow you to submit predicted or interim High School (or equivalent) results if your previous studies or academic qualifications have been impacted by COVID-19.

Because there is a chance your final official results won’t match the interim or predicted results when they become available, we have set slightly higher cut-offs for interim or predicted results should you wish to submit them to allow us to honour offers should your final official results not match the result submitted during COVID-19.

Please note: not all qualifications are affected by COVID-19, so only students who can demonstrate that their High School (or equivalent) results have been affected by COVID-19 can apply using predicted or interim results. For all other students, the normal entry requirements apply.

Student visa information

Where the IELTS Indicator, TOEFL Home or Duolingo English test has been approved for entry during the COVID-19 period, it may not satisfy visa requirements for an Australian student visa. You therefore may be required to take an additional language test to qualify for a student visa. Should you have any questions related to student visas for study in Australia, you should direct them to the Department of Home Affairs nearer the time of your student visa application.

We may issue a conditional letter of offer based upon first semester, forecast, mock or preliminary results.

Entry requirements for the University of Sydney

University entry is based on two separate results:
