Gender-Based Violence Support

We’re committed to keeping our students, staff and visitors safe.

We recognize our responsibility to do everything we can to create a safe and inclusive environment through prevention and education, and to ensure victim-survivors feel supported and secure in reporting their experiences of sexual harm or gender-based violence.

In support of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence, and our commitment to providing a safe and respectful learning environment, Taylors College Sydney consulted with our community in 2026 to develop a new:

  • Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Policy 2026

The draft policy sets out how Taylors College Sydney will prevent, respond to and manage disclosures and reports of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence involving students. It will apply to all students and members of the Navitas community, including staff, contractors and visitors, when engaged in Navitas-related activities or present at Taylors College Sydney facilities.

The policy is currently progressing through our governance approval process and is expected to take effect Term 1 2027 once approved by the Board. We’ll publish the final policy on this page as soon as it’s approved.

Understand Gender Violence

What is Sexual Harm?

Sexual harm means sexual activity without consent and includes:

  • Sexual assault;
  • Sexual harassment;
  • Voyeurism;
  • Recording or sharing real or fake intimate images without consent.

What is Gender Violence?

Gender-based violence means physical or non-physical violence, harassment, abuse or threats, based on gender, that results in, or is likely to result in, harm, coercion, control, fear or deprivation of liberty or autonomy. It includes:

  • Sexual harm;
  • Stalking;
  • Family and domestic violence;
  • Coercive control;
  • Forced marriage;
  • Modern slavery.

Who can be affected?

While anyone can experience gendered violence, it most commonly affects women and girls. Evidence also shows that LGBTIQ+ people, people with disabilities, cultural and linguistically diverse people, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are at higher risk. This is because gender inequality often overlaps with other types of inequality.

Please refer to the Policy and Procedures documents on our Policies page for more detailed information.
